Designs by Drake, Inc. is based in the beautiful Western Slope city of Montrose, Colorado. Designs by Drake was founded in April 2000 after Julie A. Drake moved to the 'high country' from Seattle, Washington. Designs by Drake, Inc. was incorporated in 2006.
At Designs by Drake, Inc. we believe in the 'KIS' principle—keep it simple. Too many web pages overwhelm site visitors with a great amount of text, graphics, and animation. This makes it hard for the visitor to focus on what the pages are meant to convey. A simple, consistent navigation system throughout the site with the right amount of text and graphics are what we aim to provide.
Julie A. Drake, President
Julie has been writing HTML since 1996. Her
first experiences were setting up programmer documentation for an
intranet writing HTML markup in a text editor. Today, Julie specializes in Dreamweaver and Wordpress web sites, and
programs JavaScript, JQuery, and Active Server Pages (ASP), Macromedia ColdFusion,
and develops dynamic pages using ASP.NET technologies.
Julie has a professional background in Information Systems that includes web server administration, computer support, network administration, and technical writing.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of Wisconsin—Madison in 1990. Her educational background also included coursework in advertising design, art history, logic, and journalism.
